HELPFUL HINTS ON USING TERMINATE'S HOST Mini-BBS SYSTEM
Our TerHOST Support System is very much like a real BBS, in that you can
Upload/Download files, Read and Download Bulletins, View available Files,
Leave messages to the Sysop, Read/Reply to Echo (Message) Areas,
Access CD's, Play DOOR Games, etc.
Remember, TERMINATE is first and foremost, a Communications Program that
just happens to have an excellent HOST mode built in.

More (Y)es, (n)o, (=) no stopping, (M)ark files, (D)ownload:
VIEW and MARK FILES IN DIRECTORY;
As you scroll thru the various directories and see a file you
wish to Download, hit [M]ark to "Mark or Tag" a file for Downloading.
Then, at the prompt, type in the name of the file you wish to Download.
Wildcards are allowed ie; you can enter 400TER.ZIP, 400ter.* or 400*.*
to [M]ark Terminate v4.0 for downloading.
You can [M]ark as many files as you wish. When you've [M]arked all the
files you want, hit [N]o to return to the MAIN MENU.
DOWNLOADING FILES;
To DOWNLOAD files, choose (D) for DOWNLOAD from the MAIN MENU. You
will be presented with a protocol menu, giving you the choices of a
variety of protocols.
The choice of protocols currently available for use are....
*(Z) Zmodem (K) Kermit
(P) ZedZap *(O) HydraComm
(A) ASCII *(H) H/S Link
(X) Xmodem (S) Super Zmodem
(1) Xmodem 1k (M) Puma/Mpt
(E) Xmodem 1k-G *(V) V-Fast
(Y) Ymodem Batch (!) Smodem
(G) Ymodem-G
For speed and reliability, we recommend using one of the Protocols
marked with an * but ONLY if you have that protocol properly setup
on YOUR system as well. If you're using TERMINATE, all you will need
it the protocol itself, as Terminate will automatically set it up
for you IF you have made it active in your Terminate Configuration.
(<ALT><O> - Protocol Options)
You will then be prompted for the name of the file(s) you wish to
download or hit ENTER to continue with the Download of your [M]arked
files.
You can DOWNLOAD files from any directory listed however, you MUST
be in the CORRECT DIRECTORY ie; TERMINATE for Terminate and related
files. You can't for example, download LORD files from the WINDOWS
directory.
Files must be downloaded one at a time, unless you have [M]arked
files for batch downloading. Wildcards are permitted ie;
if you want TMNICE42.ZIP, you could enter TMNICE42.* and receive the
correct file. You can enter MULTIPLE files for downloading, such as;
TMNICE42.ZIP, 400TER.ZIP, HOSTMNU3.ZIP followed by hitting enter.
There are no limits as to the number of files you can
download. You are limited only by your ONLINE time. New User's are
limited to 30 minutes ONLINE. If you need additional time to download
a large file, leave a Comment to the Sysop explaining why you need
more time. If it is for a single file, it can be placed "on hold"
for you so the next time you call, you will be able to download it
regardless of your available online time.
NOTE: When at the MAIN MENU, you can hit [P] to bring up the PUBLIC MENU
which lists the 12 most popular Files & Utilities, where you only need
to select the letter representing the file you wish to download and
choose the protocol you wish to use.

SIGN OFF/GOODBYE;
To leave our TerHOST System, use the (G) key for Goodbye. At the present
time, HOST still has a "small" problem logging you off so, hit the
ALT+H key on your keyboard, to hang up YOUR modem. That will effect an
immediate dis-connect and save you additional long distance phone charges.
NOTE: This may or may not be a TerHOST problem but a problem with our
US Robotics modems. Whichever it is, please use the <ALT><H> keys
to HANGUP YOUR modem after using the [G]oodbye key and answering
the prompt "Are you sure you want to leave? [Y/N]". Thanks.
Enjoy,
Dave Davidson, Sysop
